Project Harmony Update

At Directors Day in September Antony provided an update on the Standardization and Clean Up project that RSA staff have started to work on. This included launching the Project Harmony branding and logo to reflect the shift in focus away from an in-place migration from our current SirsiDynix database to a program of cleaning up the database and using new standardized names and rules when those meet member libraries’ needs. Further details can be found here: https://support.librariesofrsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Harmony-presentation-2026-09-30.pdf.

So far aspects of the Harmony Project RSA staff have worked on are as follows:
• Designed new System Codes for all libraries and new four digit abbreviations for use by RSA internally and in naming Symphony rules. Name changes will be the last step in the Harmony Project.

• Sirsi have removed an obsolete Item Cat 2 – COMPLETE

• Sirsi have been asked to remove further obsolete Item Cat 1s, 2s, and 3s – IN PROGRESS

• Sirsi have been asked to remove obsolete User Cat 1s and User Profiles which belong to libraries that have left RSA – IN PROGRESS

• RSA are working on changing home locations items with Misused Home Locations. Over 1000 completed so far – IN PROGRESS

• RSA implementing new Fine Free Circ rules using a new naming convention. 25 rules created so far implemented across 196 lines of the circulation map – IN PROGRESS

• RSA identified 4611 items marked as Missing since before July 1, 2023 (in line with data retention policy) to be removed from the system on November 9, 2026 – IN PROGRESS

• RSA working with Sirsi to develop Brief Bot to help deal with the backlog of brief records, see: https://support.librariesofrsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Brief-Bot-Flyer.pdf – IN PROGRESS

• RSA working to identify other areas for cleanup. Currently at least 15 other areas for future attention – IN PROGRESS
